First, let me say….GOOD DAY! I hope everyone’s week is off to a wonderful start. Let’s get it, let’s get it!
Next, I have a question….what is this “it” that we’re getting? is it something we’ve decided is for us or is it what God has for us. As I’ve stated the past few weeks, I’ve been struggling to get my bearings in so many areas of my life. Hopefully, that’s over now because I realize…I was trying to reach a point that I’ve already passed. It was time to EVOLVE.
By that I mean, I was happy, really happy a few years back, kids were all on the honor roll, divorce was fresh but I was exploring life and the new phases of it. I’d conveniently let the pain in transition that it had taken for me to get there slip my mind. Yes, there were moments when all I could do was lay on my floor and call on Jesus to make it to the next minute but who needed to think of that? I was HAPPY! Juggling school, working overtime, raising “perfect” children and enjoying a dating life.
Well, fast-forward two years and I’ve remarried, bye-bye dating life, hello new wife. My “perfect” children have been replaced by…teenagers (YIKES, I wasn’t ready) and school has become a lot more like a task. I have tussled with the events and changes in my life and realized that in fact I was no better than a two-year old throwing a tantrum except my tantrum was to God and where He is leading me in life. “But I don’t wanna go!”, “But I like it here!”, “Why are you doing this?”. He didn’t push me backwards but I realize that in so many ways, I’ve been standing still.
When we open ourselves up to what’s in front of us by trusting Him to lead us, the peace in our lives becomes deafening. We have to bid farewell to the old man and trust God to lead us down the path to being the phenomenal beings that He created us to be. We may enjoy some places in our journey more than others but we can’t stay there forever. I mean really, who wants to stay at a rest stop forever? You miss out on reaching your destination and purpose that way.
I once read that greatness is right outside of our comfort zones, I have to say that FINALLY, I truly understand what that means. Greatness is right inside God’s comfort zone for us. It’s time to embrace the evolution happening right on the inside of us.
2 Corinthians 5:17- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!
